Artist
Kathir graduated from College of Fine Arts and Crafts, Egmore, Chennai. One the renowned college for fine arts studies, The College was founded by the British 150 years ago during their rule.
He studied for five years for his Diploma in Fine Arts and another two years for his Post Graduate degree. He was a student there for seven years. First two years he learnt integrated proprietary courses like painting, commercial arts, sculpting, textile designing, wood work, metal work, etching and ceramics. Next three years he chose Commercial arts as the core course and textile designing as the ancillary. By then he was more into Portrait painting. He was good at oil portraits.
While still studying in college he got the chance to work in the movies as a publicity and title designer through K Bhagyaraj’s “Antha Eazhu Natkal”. And he worked in many films like Balu Mahendra’s “Moondram Pirai”, Mani Ratnam’s “Pagal Nilavu”, Durai’s “Pasi” and R V Uthaya Kumar’s “Kilakku Vaasal” as a publicity designer. He was established as a publicity designer working in many bigger films in tamil cinema.
He worked story boards for G.M. Kumar’s “Aruvadai Naal”, Jeyadevi’s “Vilangu Meen”, “Child Play” as a story board artist.
